Luisa Schöfer, born in Berlin in 1985, is a contemporary dancer based in Geneva. At the age of ten she started Rhythmic Gymnastics. She became a member of the German National Team four years later. The rigorous daily training and participation in several national and international competitions were the technical base for her contemporary dance later on. After her graduation, she studied Music & Movement at the University of the Arts (Universität der Künste) in Berlin and at the Music Conservatory (Haute Ecole de Musique) in Geneva. Luisa completed her studies with a Master of Arts in music pedagogy and obtained a piano playing certificate in 2009. The connection of music and movement continues to be one of the priorities in her current artistic research.

While working as a music and movement teacher at primary school in Geneva, she completed her training as a contemporary dancer at Le Marchepied in Lausanne in 2011. In the same year she participated in projects with Melissa Cascarino and company Danse Habile. Between 2012 and 2017, Luisa danced and toured internationally with the Geneva - based company Alias | Guilherme Bothelo. The Theater Bielefeld engaged her in 2014 to perform as a guest solo dancer, with the role she interpreted in Le Poids des Eponges.

Afterwards, Luisa worked with several dance companies, choreographers, artists and musicians, such as Emily Jeffries (2015, DE), Richard Kaboré (2016, CH), å (2018, FR), We are Interwiev (2018, CH), Woman’s Move (2019, CH), Patiperros (2021, CH), Association Fréquence Moteur (2021, CH), Mélanie Gobet (2018 / 2022, CH) and scenographer Gilles Lambert (2023, CH).

Together with dancer and psychologist Isabelle Schramm, she created the association DYAD in 2016.

Since that same year and until today, Luisa works and tours with Jasmine Morand and her swiss renowned company Prototype Status.

The artistic approach and meticulous work of body and sound of Marion Baeriswyl & D.C.P inspire Luisa’s dance training today. She researches with them since 2021 and performs in Tropique (2021), Nous voulons la Lune (2023) and their upcoming project in 2024.

She will soon be seen in Alix Vesper’s music clip for his compo-sition Helix Aspera.

Parallel to her activity on stage, Luisa collaborates with Geneva’s Haute Ecole de Musique, where she intervenes as choreography tutor, jury member and improvisation workshop teacher for Bachelor and Master students of different departments. She teaches music and movement classes at several swiss dance schools and, in 2022/23, to the dance students of Geneva’s Centre de formation professionnelle Arts.

Pedagogy and performance are intertwined for Luisa. She teaches with passion and intents to transmit the multpile connections between music and movement.
